Derrick
Burt is a native of Muskegon, Michigan who resides in Jackson,
Mississippi with his wife Kimberly and children, Jillian Marie
and Derrick Lamont Burt, II. After transferring from Calvin College
to Jackson State University, Derrick moved to Mississippi with
the belief that he would attend college and pursue sports. Although
he did attend and study business and music there, God's plan
took him down a different path.
Derrick answered God's call to the ministry and became a memeber
of the Jackson Revival Center where he serves as director of
the choir and is an ordained minister. He is liscensed by the
International Ministerial Association. With the belief that music
can be used to prepare the way for the word of God to be delivered
to the heart of man, he sings often in churches, weddings, and
other civic events.
Derrick Burt is in the process of releasing his second CD,
and was the recipient of two Gospel Music Awards for his first
entitled, "Living in the Light." Derrick believes
that music can be used to directly deliver the message of God
to the heart of man and
cause the spirit to be renewed or uplifted, and does so whenever
he is presented with the opportunity.
