"I
will sing unto the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously." These
words from Pslam 15 continue to grow as the cornerstone of
Catherine Carter's life. Her fondest childhood m emories are
of singing, whether in her church choir, in musicals at school
or at home with her family. When she became a Christian, at
the age of eight, she began to understand that music was a
gift from God to be used for His glory and His ministry. Throughout
her endeavors to develop both musically and spiritually, her
family has constantly encouraged and supported her.
Catherine is currently a sophmore at The University of Mississippi,
majoring in psychology and physics with the intention of eventually
attending medical school. She is a member of Heartsong, a group
of four women who also perform inspirational music. Catherine
has performed leading roles in musicals such as The Music Man
and West Side Story, and in addition was featured as Mary in
"Carols by Candelight," a nationally broadcast Christian program
originating at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi.
Catherine feels that God has called her to convey the truth of
God's overwhelming love and grace with her passion for singing.
Through this, Christ continues to strengthen and deepen Catherine's
faith. Her life's mission can best be described in her own words:
"God has ministered to me in so many ways through music, and
it is my greatest desire to be His instrument to convey those
blessings to others. Where my words fall short, His music triumphs."
